Jeremiah Cymerman's second CD for Tzadik presents four new cut-up pieces using "recycled" source materials. Collapsed Eustachian for two trumpets and processing draws from two separate solo concerts of Nate Wooley and Peter Evans. I Woke Up Early the Day that I Died, for solo contrabass and processing is arranged as miniature scenes that shift in mood and densities from section to section and is brilliantly performed by Tom Blancarte. Burned Across the Sky for processed clarinet and tape loop is a 6 bar phrase taken from an ensemble piece written for a Roulette concert in 2009 with a home recorded cut-up clarinet solo superimposed. Featuring Nate Wooley, Harris Eisenstadt, Sam Kulik, Chris Hoffman and Tom Blancarte, it is a major new work written as a dedication/eulogy piece for Jeremiah’s late step-father Christopher Bird. Four exciting new avant garde works from the mind of this cutting edge composer/performer! | ||||||
